Here are some poems that I wrote in English, and my teacher is making me read one of them out in class tomorrow, so I'd like some feed back, and views on which one I should read.
This is the first one, titled 'Imagination',
In a world of our own imagination,
we lose ourselves in our little nation.
Sometimes this is good, and sometimes this is bad,
in others by light or darkness ‘tis clad.
The world of our minds is something quite strange,
for as we grow, it will forever change.
When we are five, we are happy and free;
quite a contrast from the teen years spent huddled under a tree.
By time it comes to be found
that we are generally quite close to the ground.
For the weight of our family and friends,
our shoulders, that it bends.
Imagination, oh what a wonderful thing!
Happiness, to us it mainly brings.
Oh, but there are the sad times as well,
in which there are places we do not want to dwell.
In short, oh what do you see?
Shall I or shall I not flee?
My imagination may be trapping me in,
but for the freedom, oh let it begin!
And this is the second one, titled 'The Night',
The night, oh ‘tis a joyful time.
Where people come out, and play with all their might.
The scenes that I see, and the joy that it brings,
you would never have thought that these people could sing.
Some of them dance and some of them sing,
the joy that this time of night brings.
A concert, that’s what I have stumbled upon.
Oh the joy, that music, the laughter it spawns!
I would never have seen such the sight,
if I had not come out for a stroll on this, such a beautiful night.
My heart is now thumping,
my blood, oh it’s pumping.
This is the time when the hidden is no longer,
and the feelings of the people are now, oh so much stronger.
Nothing compares to the thrill of it all,
the festivities that go on in this mall.
But now it’s time for me to go home,
as I have stumbled upon a garden gnome.
Yes, my imagination is running wild,
but for me, I am but a little child.
A child that once was younger and smaller.
A child that has grown and now has to go home.
Please tell me what you think!
